Digital Construction Test Site
CFLab’s Digital Construction Test Site is our answer to some of the biggest challenges facing the construction industry:

r
We are creating an open test field for automation and digitalization in order to develop and test solutions for the construction industry. The benefits are clear:

Our Machines and Demonstrators
Our research and development work is grounded in real-world testing, and our machines are at the heart of it. They serve as technology platforms for:
We are committed to genuine interoperability, vendor independence, and a technology-agnostic approach. That’s why our fleet consists of machines from a range of manufacturers and with diverse drive systems – and it continues to grow.

Cranes play a crucial role in logistics for above-ground construction. Their elevated position makes them ideal for wireless communication and environmental perception. However, they also pose risks due to their suspended and swinging loads.
Together with our partners, we develop solutions that enhance safety and automation in above-ground construction.
Our 22-ton crawler excavator serves as a universal test platform for assistance and automation in underground works.
Key applications:
• Intuitive operator assistance
• Digital twins
• Remote control
• Real-time environmental perception
• AI-based object recognition
With this universal collaborative robot, we are developing pragmatic one-click solutions that streamline skilled manual tasks and enable greater flexibility. Our goal is to make automation easily accessible – simple to use, versatile in application, and directly relevant to real-world practice.
The mini wheel loader is a demonstrator developed within the Fluid 4.0 joint research project. It illustrates how control system development for machines can be simplified. To this end, it contrasts the effort required for manual parameterization using characteristic values from data sheets with an automated workflow based on the asset administration shell. The demonstrator is mobile and flexible, making it ideal for trade fair presentations and teaching purposes.
Your Advantage: A One-of-a-Kind Research Infrastructure
With our combination of infrastructure, machinery, and a digital construction test site, we offer our partners in the construction industry a neutral, practice-oriented, and future-focused test environment. This is where the technologies are being developed that will drive tomorrow’s digital and automated construction.
