Key theme ___ Construction Robotics
Developing, testing and deploying
construction robotics.
From highly automated construction machinery to construction robots. Robotic machine designs, components and, above all, software, will define what construction sites look like in the future. The goal is automated construction processes and the necessary tools within a single ecosystem.
What is construction robotics?
Construction robotics: Taking the strain for the trades
The construction industry is suffering from an enormous shortage of skilled workers, which will intensify in the coming years due to demographic change. The often physically demanding tasks also pose a problem, as they mean many workers are unable to continue working to retirement age.
The construction companies concerned are coming under increasing pressure to automate their processes and reduce the burden on their workers.
Compact, mobile construction-robotics systems represent a promising solution to the problems mentioned above. They can help automate specific construction processes—especially in building construction, fit-out work, renovation and demolition—and relieve workers of physically heavy and ergonomically harmful tasks.

Driving forward development and trialing
One of CFLab’s goals is to drive forward the development and trialing of innovative, practical construction robots. To this end, we are researching new machine designs, the associated process tools and basic technologies, e.g., for localization, environmental recognition and collaboration.
