Who We Are

Construction Future Lab (CFLab) is your independent research and development partner for digitalization and automation in construction and construction machinery.

As a research and development facility spun out of TU Dresden, we develop practical solutions for digital construction and serve as an innovation driver for Construction 4.0 – regionally in Dresden and Görlitz as well as nationally and internationally.

Our interdisciplinary team includes experts from mechanical engineering, civil engineering, mechatronics, and technical design. We combine scientific excellence with industrial experience in the key areas of automation, digitalization, software development, and AI-based computer vision. Together, we pursue one goal:

To prepare future technologies for construction processes and construction machinery for real-world applications.

Our Focus Areas

We are an independent research and development facility working in the fields of digitalization and automation for construction machinery and construction processes. Drawing on our strong research background, we take a technology-agnostic, application-oriented, and manufacturer-independent approach.
Digitalization and Automation
From human–machine interaction and process optimization to artificial intelligence (AI) – we develop bespoke solutions that make construction processes more efficient, safer, and more sustainable.
Hardware and Software
From prototypes to demonstrators to intelligent systems, we combine hardware and software development into integrated applications for the construction industry.
Data and AI
We focus on interoperable interfaces and automated workflows that make construction processes transparent. In the field of AI, we develop real-time, construction site-ready solutions for object detection as the basis for assistance systems and construction progress monitoring.
